Fair point...it's certainly not no chance

just one extra chance to lose to a quality opponent...and the wins you listed are all either 1 point or SV (although to be fair, McKee looks good as a 2nd round opponent because Sam beat him last year, but that was only 3-1)

The other factor would be wrestling the blood round as his 3rd Friday match against a guy who's only on his 2nd Friday match...and is probably either the 4 or the 5 (and Courtney beat Sam 8-4 earlier this season)
